As a kid, I dreamed of becoming a mad scientist. Growing up, I spent hours tinkering with tools, taking things apart (and sometimes putting them back together) under the watchful eye of a Polish carpenter who worked on our home. My passion for building led me from mechanical engineering to cabinetmaking, where I discovered my love for woodworking.
After studying at L’École du meuble de Montréal, the first Leon Lebeniste shop came to be in my grandmother’s garage in the picturesque 1000 Islands, crafting bespoke furniture and restoring architectural woodwork. In 2008, I headed west to Whistler to ski big mountains and eventually landed in Squamish, where I unpacked my machines and set up our first proper shop.
From a modest 1,200 sq ft space to our current purpose-built factory, Leon Lebeniste has grown into a dedicated team of designers, engineers, and craftspeople committed to delivering exceptional work. We’re still learning and growing every day, fueled by a shared passion for bringing remarkable ideas to life.
Who is Leon?
Leon was my black Labrador, a playful dog with endless personality. Combined with ebeniste—the French word for cabinetmaker—Leon became the perfect name for a workshop rooted in craftsmanship, creativity, and fun.
